Wishin and hopin and think and prayin............

I was sitting alone in my house the other night after a long day of work and calls from 2 friends with bad news and a call from a tenant with bad news and I thought of that old song

"Cause wishin’’ and hopin’’ and thinkin’’ and prayin’’
Planning and dreamin’ his kisses will start.
ou’re thinking how great true love i
That won’t get you into his heart!
All you gotta do is hold him’ and kiss him’ and squeeze him’ and love him.
Yeah’ just do it!
And after you do’ you will be his. "
Sometimes the hardest part of my life is not having a partner in life to share the good experiences and the bad experiences with. Not having someone to turn to when one of my best friends calls up and tells me her mother has been diagnosed with cancer or another friend messages me and tells me her little sister who has battled cancer her entire life is having a biopsy because she may have more cancer or a tenant calls and tells me their having flooring issues and hot water heater issues because the people you usually turn to are the ones having issues.

I think so many of my married friends look at my life and see the freedom I have to live how I want, go where I want; when I want, eat what I want, decorate how I want, etc etc. but they fail to realize that while these are all benefits of the single life they are also the downfalls because I don't have a family to share my life with, to turn to when I need someone in an intimate way, or to witness my life as I witness theirs.

Sometimes in the still quiet of the night when I am able to sit in quiet and reflect on the days experiences or life's experiences I miss having someone close to share these things with. I look at my coupled friends lives and I am envious sometimes of the family they have, the spouse they have to come home to, to share a home with, keep a home with, take care of and provide a soft place for them to fall in the hard times. Then when I talk to them and hear the complain because their spouse doesn't help around the house as much as they would like them to, doesn't help with the kids as much as they would like them to or are not as affectionate as they would like their spouse to be and I think to myself is it all worth it? I always answer myself with the same answer: I think it is worth it because a life built alone can be a very lonely life, even when in a crowded room. A life without a partner can make it difficult to carry burdens and a life without a partner leaves no one to share the blessings with.

What A Giant Disappointment!

As we say in Texas, "if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it will change!"

The intended day of my first date with Kevin, the Texas weather took a turn for the worse and as you can see, snow fell, wind whipped, and temperatures dropped in the 30s making an outing at the park not a practical outing. I texted Kevin and let him know that the weather was just too bad and could we reschedule for the upcoming week since the weather was supposed to be nice (and he had his children over the weekend). He agreed.

The weekend came and went and I carried on with my life as I normally would and spent time with friends and family. The following week rolled around and the weather was absolutely beautiful! I began working in my yard and thought this is going to be perfect weather for an outing in the park with Kevin. However, Monday......went by.........Tuesday went by & I attended my nieces softball game and upon getting back into my truck around 7:30pm I looked at my cell phone to see that Kevin had texted me an hour earlier saying, "do you want to take the vette out and enjoy the evening?"  I responded saying i had been at my nieces softball game and just received the message, but maybe some other night.

As I write this it has now been apx. 2 weeks since that night and I have yet to receive a response back from Kevin. No big deal to me but I do wonder is he upset because I canceled our first date due to weather and didn't respond to his second attempt because I was otherwise engaged in my life?

Whatever the reason: in my book too much time has gone by.  What do you think?

Time passes so slowly when there is no one to share it with & long passages of restlessness make's it difficult to fight off anxiety & depression.

The First Date Arrives

Slowly, the conversation started and blossomed over a period of several weeks. We discussed education, interests, friends, family, music and books. There was a day that I wasn't sure where a particular conversation was going to lead but because I wanted to remain open to this experience I continued talking for a couple more weeks and then it was time.

We started discussing meeting in person. This made me nervous because I was so tired of meeting crazy, needy, jerks or guys that were just interested in "hooking up".  However, I was pleasantly surprised when he asked me to a meeting in a local park and included my Koda! I was surprised because this guy has really been paying attention to the things I have said and how much more comfortable I would be on a first date if it involved something I could bring my dog along with me!

Then my friend stated last night, what if he is a psycho and just thinks by being so thoughtful it's a way of getting my walls down so he can be a psycho!  I have to admit this thought had crossed my mind but then I thought about bringing a Rottweiler with me and if this was his intentions then he was just plain stupid and deserves whatever Koda dishes out! I will be safe with her there not to mention the can of mace I carry with me and the fact that I will be letting a friend know where I will be, when I will be there, plan to text with her while I am there and then again when I am safely leaving the park.

If the weather holds up and we are able to meet details of the meeting will follow!

Interesting: Horoscope for today
There is a bit of an air of insecurity for you right now, Virgo, and there is a chance this could show up in your romantic affairs. This is a time where whether you are single or attached, you will be lacking some confidence in some romantic experiences. Lack of confidence can put you in an emotionally bad place right now, so believe in yourself even when others don't. Believe in yourself today and ignore the sometimes jealous remarks of others who would see you give up. Small, multiple moves are favored over big leaps, they mount up and you go just as far. All you need to regain some of this confidence is to just take a small step or two, and you will be surprised at how far they do in fact take you on the romantic scene.

House, Senate at odds over versions of abortion sonogram bill | Texas Legislature News - News for Dallas, Texas - The Dallas Morning News

I know a lot of my friends are anti abortion but I am curious what people think happened before abortions were legal. I agree with Whoopi Goldburg when she says that women will go back to the old days of "back alley" abortions, quacks providing services in run down, un sterile locations and "coat hanger" abortions.
These bills seem to want to tell women what they can and can not do with their own bodies but honestly, welfare is high and we all complain about that, unemployment is high, medical costs are high and we all complain about that, there are children sitting now waiting to be adopted and in foster care - and we have all seen the stories of children falling through the cracks in those programs. As for the comment by Sid Miller " the House’s 24-hour waiting period would allow the woman to “pray about it or visit with her family.” What about those women who may not be religious or believe in God or what about those women who may not have a family to turn to? The beliefs of others are going to be forced upon them?

House, Senate at odds over versions of abortion sonogram bill

AUSTIN — The Texas House and Senate may be headed toward a standoff over measures that would require a woman seeking an abortion to first have a sonogram.

The author of the House bill, which the chamber gave final approval to Monday, said it’s just a matter of who blinks first.

“I’m going to keep our bill as tight as we can,” said Rep. Sid Miller, R- Stephenville.

The House bill, approved 107-42, will now be sent to a Senate committee. The House has yet to pick up the Senate version of the bill that passed a few weeks ago.

Usually, the two chambers would send lawmakers to a conference committee to work out differences. But because each house worked on its own version, one chamber is going to have to pick up the other’s bill for that to happen.

The issue was put on a fast track by Gov. Rick Perry, but the standoff threatens quick passage of the measure.

Senate author Dan Patrick promised his colleagues during the debate on the bill that he would not accept a House version that was either “watered down” or “on steroids.”

Patrick, R-Houston, said the process could have been quicker if the House had taken up the Senate version and put its language in as a substitute.

“The way they have managed this has left a lot of people scratching their heads,” he said.

Under the Senate version, a woman would have to be given the opportunity to see a sonogram image within two hours of the abortion procedure and hear a fetal heartbeat. She could decline the options but a doctor would still describe what he or she sees. The oral description can be waived under certain conditions, including rape or incest.

“There is a sticking point on the rape and incest provision,” Patrick said. “That is an issue the Senate will insist upon.”

Miller said he won’t give in on the provision because it is already inherent in the language of the bill that the woman does not have to view the sonogram.

He also said the two-hour waiting period is insufficient. He said the House’s 24-hour waiting period would allow the woman to “pray about it or visit with her family.”

“I’m not giving up anything until I get something,” Miller said.

At the End of the Evening

When the date comes to an end and we are standing outside the location of our first meeting (restaurant, movies, coffee house, batting cages, basketball court, etc) and we are about to go our separate ways for the evening, the date went well and I am hoping to see him again and he asks me to go back to his place for drinks, coffee, television etc. What do I do?

My hope is to not be in this situation because this would make me question the guys motives especially since I just met this person for the first time but in the event I am in the situation I plan to respond in one of the following ways:
"Thank you, but I really should get going. Would you like to get together for dinner again this week?"
"That sounds like fun, but can I take a rain check and go out again next week?"
However, in the event the date did NOT go well and I want to just call it a night without encouraging future dates I would respond by saying,
"Thank you for the offer, but I don't really feel that kind of chemistry with you."
and if the date was a completely horrible experience then I would say,  "Honestly, I'm just not that interested. I think I'm just going to head home for the night, but thank you for the offer."
It is tempting to go back to a dates home to continue a connection but we should remember, this is a first date and you just met this person. There are so many scenarios that could play out that could be dangerous for your safety and well being. A first date is for establishing the image you want your date to have of you and continue on to a second date.Too many people are in a hurry to establish an intimate connection but by rushing into an intimate relationship can cause us to feel bad about ourselves, have others view us in a bad light or cause hurt feelings.  Save the intimacy for a time in the relationship is right and will help continue the connection instead of hurrying into something that may not go further on to a 2nd date.
